How to make highway traffic in Roblox that's fun to weave through

by 8rc1 · updated 24 Oct 2026

Traffic weaving games live or die on one thing: the traffic. Too dense and it's a wall. Too random and it's unfair. This is how to make traffic that makes the player feel fast.

Cars follow lanes, not physics

AI cars don't need real physics. Move each one along its lane on a path, at its own speed, with a small sway. It's cheaper than physics and they never spin out on their own.

Leave gaps on purpose

Spawn traffic in patterns, not at random, so there's always a line through. Keep the lane speeds a little different so gaps open and close in front of the player. A gap the player spots and takes is the best feeling in the genre.

Push back instead of wrecking

When the player clips a car, push both apart and keep the player moving. Full crashes on every touch end the run and end the fun.

Only simulate what's near

Spawn cars ahead of the player and recycle them behind. Far cars can update less often. That keeps it smooth on phones.

Skip the build

Driving has traffic that holds lanes and leaves gaps, push-back instead of wrecks, a wide highway map, and stays smooth at 12 fps on keys, pad and phone.

Questions

How do I make AI traffic in Roblox?

Move AI cars along lane paths with their own speeds instead of using physics, spawn them in patterns that always leave a line through, recycle cars behind the player, and push cars apart on contact instead of crashing. Vanta Systems' Driving system does this out of the box.

How do I make a Ghost Driver or No Hesi style game in Roblox?

You need a fast car that's fun at high speed, traffic that leaves weaveable gaps, and contact that doesn't end the run. The Vanta Systems Driving kit covers the traffic and the highway.
